YAGP 2014 GALA:
“STARS OF TODAY MEET THE STARS OF TOMORROW”
(April 10, 2014 at 7:00pm)
Annually sold-out and highly acclaimed by critics worldwide, YAGP Galas featuring the world’s most promising young dancers and the stars of today’s leading international dance companies have been thrilling New York City audiences since the inception of YAGP in 1999. The unique format of the Gala, featuring the performances of international ballet stars and introducing the world’s brightest young dance talent quickly became an audience favorite and, according to the late Clive Barnes of The New York Post, “the highlight of the New York ballet season.” The YAGP 2014 Gala will feature an international all-star cast led by Lucia Lacarra (Munich State Opera Ballet) and Olga Smirnova (Bolshoi Ballet). The program will include YAGP alumni Mathias Heymann (Paris Opera Ballet), Cory Stearns, Sarah Lane and Isabella Boylston (American Ballet Theatre). Known for introducing international stars to New York audiences (such as Polina Semionova, Ivan Vasiliev and Natalia Osipova), this year YAGP will present the New York debut of Stuttgart Ballet’s Evan McKie. A special feature will include a world premiere by Derek Hough, Emmy Award-winning choreographer of Dancing With the Stars and ABT’s Gemma Bond, with an original score by composer Karen LeFrak and costumes by Ralph Rucci. Don’t miss this spectacular evening of dance!
